Dr. Reeve’s vaginismus therapy

About Dr. med. Julia M. Reeve

Dr. Reeve is fluent in English, German and Dutch.

Dr. Julia Reeve was born and raised in England. She moved to Germany with her family when she was in her late teens. Dr. Reeve studied medicine at the University of Köln and after graduation and promotion to Doctor of Medicine, went on to specialize in gynecology and obstetrics at a St. Josef´s Hospital in Hamm and the University of Münster, Germany. In 1994 Dr. Reeve opened her private surgery for gynecology and obstetrics in Heinsberg, Germany. Ever since becoming a specialist, she has been in contact with patients that were considered “medically healthy” but suffered from vaginismus.

In her daily practice, Dr. Reeve met many patients she couldn’t help sufficiently with just conventional medicine. That was the catalysis for Dr. Reeve to study sexual medicine/sexology and also to become a psychoanalytical psychotherapist. These studies created a threesome, gynecology – sexology – psychotherapy, and the ability to help patients suffering from vaginismus grew from there. Dr. Reeve developed her therapy method for this unique group of patients over the years.

“Nowadays I can say that therapy of nearly all of the women/couples that suffer from vaginismus is successful. Often couples will experience pain-free vaginal penetration just days after the last therapy session. 10% have pain-free intercourse within 10 days of therapy, 85% within 30 days of therapy. They go on to lead lives with wonderful sex and, later, many fulfill their wish to fall pregnant and give birth to their children naturally. , I’m very thankful to all the patients that I have accompanied on their journey.”
